The Ecstatic Review is newsletter about how to talk about yourself.

And your work. Especially when your work is hard to talk about. And if you’re doing anything new or different or complex, it probably is.

So if you’ve ever felt like you don’t make sense, or you might actually be 10 people living in the body of one person, or you loathe being told “Tell me about yourself,” or you’re just not quite sure how to share the big ideas or explain the bold moves you feel called to make, The Ecstatic Review was created with you in mind.

Who created this?

The Ecstatic Review is an extension of Ecstatic Voice, a communication studio and voice lab in Los Angeles. Both were created by me, Cate Scott Campbell.

Me, by my pal Mandee Johnson.

In a superfaceted career fueled by my insatiable enthusiasm for the connective power of good conversation, I’ve built an expansive lens and flexible toolkit for sharing complex ideas with vibrant cohesion.

I’ve developed voice and defined narrative, shaped communication and content across channels, guided hundreds of interdisciplinary conversations and directed multidisciplinary teams, performed and presented on many stages, and crafted words on bestselling products, in beloved campaigns, and everywhere else.

My work has been featured in The Washington Post, Forbes, Adweek, Ms. Magazine, and BUST, commissioned by Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls and Southern California Public Radio, and funded by The Harnisch Foundation—achieving millions of downloads and lots of wigs (story for another time) in the process.

What should I expect?

I think of The Ecstatic Review as part newsletter, part show, and one purposely exploratory conversation with you. That means you’re not going to find any of those overly simplified and highly prescriptive internet hits like “How to Do X Correctly” or “5 Signs You’re Doing Y All Wrong” or “This One Thing Will Transform Everything!” You’ll find lots of invitations to choose your own adventure and make your own decisions about what’s right for you.

Where should I begin?

Wherever you join this conversation is the right place. If you want some ideas for where to start, here are a few:

Tell me about a free subscription.

If you subscribe for free, you’ll get 1 – 2 full posts each month delivered right to your inbox. You’ll also get to read the first part of most posts that go out to paid subscribers.

Tell me about a paid subscription.

For $5/month or $50/year, you’ll get:

  • 1 – 3 full posts a month and all voice notes

  • Practical applications, exercises, and extra perks

  • Access to the whole growing library to explore anytime

Whichever adventure you choose, I hope it makes your inbox fuller in the best way. If you have questions or feedback you’d like to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

And if you like what you see, hear, and read, I’d love for you to tell a friend, restack a favorite quote, or share in any other way that feels good to you. All are welcome, and every voice makes this whole experience that much fuller.
